At LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice we are constantly striving to enhance the quality of care offered to the children, adults and families that we support. Our aim is to ensure that the care we provide is responsive to individual needs and circumstances. Our hospice services include palliative care at end of life, short breaks in and out of home, symptom management, play, occupational, physiotherapy and music therapies, emotional and wellbeing support including counselling, family events, support groups and spiritual care. Originally established in 1925 as the Children’s Sunshine Home, its disability services continue and have evolved to reflect the changing needs of families. Working in close partnership with the HSE, Department of Health and other stakeholders LauraLynn is Ireland’s only children’s hospice with a vison of ensuring that all children who need us can access us.
The Board of LauraLynn is seeking to appoint a CEO who is passionate about providing the highest standard of clinical care in a way that meets the individual needs of the children, adults and families that we support. Our new CEO will be motivated by the opportunity to achieve excellence in children’s palliative care in Ireland in keeping with the new model of care in partnership with families and children and all other stakeholders.
Reporting to the Board, the CEO will lead a high-performing management team and inspire a multi-disciplinary team of over 140 employees along with volunteers, supporters and stakeholders in delivering the organisation’s goals and values of Family – Life – Care. The appointed candidate will be an experienced and proven leader, who will bring strong strategic and operational capabilities to LauraLynn. Core competencies will include, operational expertise ideally within a clinical or healthcare setting, experience in setting and managing within budgets, strategic thinking, knowledge of corporate governance, commercial acumen, proven leadership skills coupled with the ability to develop and nurture key stakeholder relationships at the highest levels. An exceptional communicator, the CEO will be an advocate for the needs of children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive contribution in children’s palliative care in Ireland by, amongst other things, effectively engaging with and supporting the development of a national service plan while also delivering the highest possible standards of care on a day to day basis. Experience of complex healthcare organisations is desirable.
