Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) is a national voluntary organisation, founded in 1971 to support families who have a child with Down syndrome. With a membership of over 3,500 families and 26 branches nationwide DSI is dedicated to being Ireland’s primary source of expertise, support and information to people with Down syndrome, their families and their social and professional support networks.
DSI advocates for services, resources and benefits for people with Down syndrome to enable them to fully participate in society as equally valued, independent citizens.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for providing leadership in the organisation towards the realisation of DSI’s mission and goals and is the key strategist in providing expert business and organisational advice. Working closely with the Board, the CEO is responsible for the development of the organisation’s strategic and operational plans and policies and for leading their implementation. The appointee will inspire, lead, manage and support staff members in the fulfilment of their responsibilities and will be responsible for driving DSI’s advocacy work, building relationships with key stakeholders, to solicit positive changes in rights, benefits and services for people with Down syndrome.
The Board is seeking an inspirational leader, who will bring strong strategic, advocacy and operational capabilities to the organisation. In addition to possessing a strong affinity with the objectives of DSI, the appointee will require well-honed commercial and organisational development skills, coupled with a proven track record of leadership and management. An exceptional communicator, the appointee will champion the needs of people with Down syndrome and their families at a time of ongoing change within the Irish economy.
